Privacy Policy
1. What this Privacy Policy covers
This policy explains what information MaghrebPaw collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the MaghrebPaw iOS app.
2. Information we collect
Account information — name, email address, and profile photo, collected when you sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or email/password.
Profile and pet information — anything you add to your profile or your pet's profile: photos, breed, age, city, and description.
Location — with your permission, your approximate location is used to show you nearby walks and pets, and to let you set a meeting point when creating a walk. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings; core discovery features will be limited without it.
Photos and camera — used only when you choose to upload a photo for your profile or a pet; we don't access your photo library or camera otherwise.
Calendar — only if you tap "Add to Calendar" for a walk or meetup, which requests write access to add that single event.
Messages and requests — the content of messages, meet requests, and adoption requests you send through the App, so the other participant can see them.
Reports — details you submit when reporting a user or piece of content, used for moderation.
Diagnostic data — crash and performance data collected automatically via Firebase Crashlytics, to help us find and fix bugs. This data is not linked to your identity beyond what's needed to reproduce a crash.
3. How we use your information
- To operate core features: showing nearby walks/pets, matching adoption and meet requests, delivering messages.
- To let other users see the profile information you've chosen to share.
- To moderate reported content and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To diagnose and fix bugs (crash reports).
- To communicate with you about your account (e.g. request status, moderation actions).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. Who can see your information
Your profile, pet listings, and hosted walks are visible to other MaghrebPaw users, since the App is a community for finding meetups and adoptions. Messages, meet requests, and adoption requests are visible only to you and the other participant. Our support/moderation team may access reported content and account information to investigate reports.
5. Third-party services we use
Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and crash reporting (Crashlytics). Firebase's own privacy practices apply to data it processes on our behalf: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — used only for authentication; we receive your name and email address from these providers when you choose to sign in with them.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from Profile settings, which removes your profile, pet listings, and personal data from active use. Some information (e.g. reports you were involved in) may be retained as needed for moderation records or legal obligations.
7. Your choices
- Edit or delete your profile and pet information at any time.
- Revoke location, camera, photo library, or calendar permissions in iOS Settings.
- Delete your account entirely from Profile settings.
- Contact us to ask what data we hold about you or to request deletion.
8. Children
MaghrebPaw is not directed at children, and you must be at least 18 to create an account. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
